How Bestiary completion works
The in-game Bestiary records fish and items you personally catch. Receiving a fish through trading does not normally count toward completion, so a checklist must track catches rather than inventory ownership.
Start with one permanent location, identify condition-gated fish, then return during the required weather, time, season, or event.
Conditions to check before fishing
Location
The area or sub-area where the fish belongs in the Bestiary.
Bait
Preferred bait improves the target chance but does not replace location requirements.
Weather
Some fish need a server weather state or an event condition.
Time
Day or night can be a required condition.
Season
Spring, summer, autumn, or winter may affect availability.
Rarity
Rarity helps plan Luck and expected grind time; it does not guarantee a catch.
A simple location checklist
- Open the location’s Bestiary section and note missing names.
- Separate ordinary catches from weather, time, event, and encounter requirements.
- Equip a rod and bait that can actually handle the target.
- Confirm each catch updates the in-game Bestiary before moving on.
Why totals change
New areas, limited events, removed pages, and optional secret fish can change visible totals. Use the game’s current Bestiary as the final completion authority.
